So, one of the BIG questions that often comes up with drug and alcohol addiction is, “When do you know you’ve hit rock bottom and you’re ready to get into rehab?”

After 30 years as a drug and alcohol addiction counselor, I will tell you that “rock bottom” is different for everyone. For some, all it takes is the scare of a DUI or a black out. For others, it takes a LOT of wreckage and suffering—ODs, multiple DUIs, emergency room visits, lost employment, jail time, divorce, etc., etc. And some hit rock bottom and just keep going—we call them “bottom walkers.”

Here’s Allison Hudson’s story of her own rock bottom experience. Perhaps it will help you or someone you love to figure out that you’ve fallen far enough and it’s time to get help!
